Having forgotten that I claimed this small space on the internet, today I re-realized that I could use this spot to share some images and musings. So here goes, let me get started. I took this photo yesterday. The camera is an almost 15 year old point-and-shoot type. It really hasn't seen much use in the time I have owned it as a backup to heavier DSLRs, something easier as an everyday carry camera. I went on a Saturday morning nature/photo walk, with a small group, to Crowders Mountain State Park in N.Carolina. I did take a full-frame Canon R, but I decided to force myself to use the less sophisticated and older Canon point-and-shoot. I guess I did so for a few different reasons. (1) I wanted to slow down a bit and get my "photography eyes" working more. The G10, having a very small sensor, does best when used with the lowest ISO possible. Higher ISO speeds, very quickly introduce noticeable noise in the images. So this camera does best if the user slows down. (2) I kind of feel guilty for not using this camera very much over the years. It's been put away and mostly forgotten. My 7D and 7DMkII were so heavily used and lugged around and then I played with Canon's mirrorless M series starting with the original M and then the M6. Most recently I went to the full frame Canon mirrorless with the EOS R. The poor PowerShot G10 needed to be used and pulled out from it's slumber. So here, I will try to post more from this sturdy little brick of a camera. I have pretty much decided to use it as a carry around camera for landscapes. I have ideas of also attempting to do some street photography with it. We shall see if that happens. For now, this image is ISO 80 of some of the last color that this wonderful autumn of 2022 has offered.
